Programs: Worship Weavers Guild One of the unique things about First Universalist Church is our recognition that the realms of worship and rites of passage are not the sole purvey of ordained clergy. We believe we are called to minister to one another and our spiritual life is our communal concern. To that end, the Worship Weavers’ Guild was organized in 1985. This rotating team of six lay people works collaboratively with our Minister and Director of Music to develop and facilitate our weekly worship. Guild members are actively involved in developing themes for our worship, selecting readings and hymns, shaping and delivering sermons, leading public prayer, and engaging equally with Rev. Emrich in the task of weaving our worship. The Guild’s monthly meetings involve a combination of assessing the quality and effectiveness of past services, planning for future services, and in-service training in ministerial arts. |
