Endorsement: Moved to endorse the candidacy for Moderator of the UUA of Gini Courter (Comstock), seconded (Rice) and passed.

2009-10 Budget: We discussed several line items the board might wish to request for the 2009-2010 budget. Roger and Marge will develop a number for the canvass, Jennifer will propose a budget for leadership development, Eric will come up with numbers for mission development (if they fall into next year.) Additionally, we will submit $300 for NELS supplement and $200 for contingency.

Communications Policy: David had prepared a draft policy on communications within the church. As all board members had not yet read the policy, we will submit individual comments to David to be discussed at the next meeting. We liked the format he chose.

Canvass: Marge updated members on the plans for this year’s canvass.

Mission development: Eric and Judy will meet next week with Karen Foley, our consultant on mission development. Foley has worked with several churches going through the pastoral to program transition. They will attempt to develop a timeline for creating the mission, and understanding of Foley’s involvement, and a budget.

Mid-Year Annual Meeting:

The agenda will be as follows:

“A community of action – A Place for all” – Jennifer

Budget and financial update – Roger and Tom McAdoo

Canvass plans – Marge

Taking action to “Nurture your Spirit” – Jennifer

Eric and Marge will decide who moderates the meeting

Assignments were made

Banner: The proposed banner will be hung in the sanctuary on January 25th and Febr. 1 with announcements calling attention to it. The banner will be displayed outside after the Mid-Year meeting. The board will the decision to keep the banner up at its May meeting.

Reports: We liked this month’s report from the Minister. There was no DRE report this month due the deadline for her certification materials. Roger reported that we have three applications for bookkeeper.

Evaluation: We discussed the summary evaluation of the Minister which was prepared by Deb Rice. Her summation was very effective.
