As Unitarian Universalists, we
- Respect the importance of all beings,
- Offer fair and kind treatment to all,
- Yearn to learn throughout life,
- Grow by exploring ideas and values together,
- Believe in our ideas and act on them,
- Insist on peace, freedom and justice for all, and
- Value our interdependence with nature.
Because each line begins with a letter that corresponds to a color found in a rainbow (R=red, O=orange, Y=yellow, G=green, B=blue, I=indigo, and V=violet), this child's version is often referred to as the "Rainbow of Principles."
